WHO ARE WE?
Formed in 2016, The Friends of Hamlin Recreation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Hamlin Recreation Department. We volunteer our time, ideas, and skills to raise funds, acquire grants, and, in general, try to increase the department’s scope, resources, and volunteer base. Fundraising goals are air conditioning for the Town Hall gym, a sprinkler park, and a paved walking path around Hamlin Town Park. To date, our biggest acquisition is a $15,000 grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeves Foundation, which allowed us to purchase 8 variously-sized youth athletic wheelchairs to make recreational programming more accessible for kids who use wheelchairs.
We help fund the Summer Camp and Youth Sports Scholarships, Support Youth Sports Teams, 2022 Kicked off the beginning stages of our Walking and Trail around the Hamlin Town Park. We also apply and write grants like the Art in the Park as shown as the owl mural on the Town building.
